Explanation and demonstration of making my logo!

Rochdale Rumour: In order to create my logo I used a process on word that allowed me to create my own shapes and then fill them in with the colours I wanted to choose. Firstly, I selected insert shapes from the toolbar and then select the image of a circular line. This tool allows you to draw any shape you want by clicking and creating a shape and then double clicking to connect the shape which will allow you to fill the shape in either a preset or chosen colour. By drawing your own shapes you have an original shape which others won't have. After the shape is drawn you select the icon that is a paint pot and click to choose a colour. I will insert a print screen to show how this can be created.

Planning my photos!

Planning photos
Before creating my front cover and contents I need to prepare and plan for the shots I want to take to accompany my stories and main articles. I will take a couple of shots in slightly altered frames and then select the ones I want in the end. I will justify my decisions and also explain what I want each image to achieve or what I want it to convey.

In front of a garage door to highlight the person in the foreground.
I need one student in a medium shot for the front cover picture to accompany the main article.
I would like to use a congratulations banner above the student to accompany a GCSE success story.
To accompany a GCSE success story the banner creates a sense of celebration and pride.
I want it to look like a close up that shows how happy a student is with his or her GCSE results. It has to be interesting and capture the attention of the consumer.
I would like a photo in the morning light to show how students are organised or not organised in the morning. I want this image to be taken in front of a car to show students before the school day.
I need at least two people to contrast one prepared student and one student who doesn’t want to work or whom isn’t ready for the day ahead.
I want textbooks and exercise books in the frame to create the atmosphere of school life. I need one student dressed properly and one without their uniform done up properly.
I would like this to look like a contrast between the perfect student and a student who doesn’t care about their education.
I want the car to be central with the books and dance shoes in the middle of the frame with the students with opposite attitudes on either side so kids can see the difference.
I would like to have a photo that encompasses the importance of families helping students to succeed.
I need a family in the photo studying together to show the importance of family supporting in school success.
I would like a pile of books on the table which represents the work piling up and to show it is ok to ask for help to get through the work without being swamped.
I want the parent or carer in the middle of two students helping with their work.
I want it to show students it’s ok to ask for help in order to succeed.

Action plan!

Preliminary task brief!

Using DTP and an image manipulation program, produce the front of a new school/ college magazine, featuring a photograph of a student in medium close up plus some appropriately laid out text and a masthead. Additionally candidates must produce DTP mock- up of the layout of the contents page to demonstrate their grasp of the program
